Blog Candy!!!

Blog candy is now close.

Sorry for the late post, it's my son last day of school before spring break starts tomorrow. They had a class activity this morning. It was culture day. So I had to bring in a dish of our culture. My son is Filipino and Japanese. But since most of his classmate are Japanese. So we just stick to a Filipino dish. I made Banana Lumpia and also we had to do arts and crafts. So I volunteer to help the kids make something and here's the picture on the bottom. We made a mini size Parols. Parols are ornamental star-like Christmas lanterns from the Philippines. They are traditionally made out of bamboo and paper and comes in various sizes, shapes and designs, however its star-shape. Its shape is said to be inspired by the star on the Nativity of Jesus that guided the Magi to the manger. It also symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and the Filipino's hope and goodwill during the Christmas season. The tools we use was colored tissue paper, circle and star die cut paper, glue and a pencil.

This is how the Parols looks like in the Philippines.

This is the mini Parol I came up with. I wanted to make
this simple so that the kids could follow.

Here's some small goodies in celebration of my son LJ's 6th birthday on 3/24. All you have to do is leave me a comment and my son will pick a name out of the hat on Tuesday evening. Good Luck!

I finally made my first stationary box !

My son school project

My son LJ birthday is coming up soon, so I'll be posting a blog candy in celebration for his 6th birthday which is 3/24. It's his turn to bring a poster about why he is special and things about him. We had a blast doing this together yesterday. He learn so much things about him self and remember all the memories from before. Also why he is so important in our lives. He said because my family loves me, they take care of me, feed me, and take me places. He is such a character. He grows up so fast and I'm so proud of what he's becoming. He has improve so much and very active. Before he was shy and now he so talkative too. This morning when I drop him to school, his teacher and classmate really like his poster. He said my mommy is the best, we made this together and he gave me a hug and said Thanks Mom.

The Pink Elephant's #3 Challenge

I needed to make a card for my friend in the mainland just to say hello. I came cross a blog that had this sketch. I really like the layout of the sketch so I decided I would enter one of the challenges on The Pink Elephant. The sketch is as follows. I use my copic pens to color the Sarah Kay stamp.
